I like to blend traditional techniques and digital painting to create my illustrations. I always like to try and keep a sense of tactility even when they are digitally finalised by using digital charcoal and pencil brushes, textures and layering. #wip #bee #spring

This afternoon's muck about is in RPG Maker, we're so lucky to have programs like this available.
These sprite sheets would have taken me days to complete but using RPG Maker, it took about 10 mins.
I can import my own sprites/textures & tilemaps too.
Great way to mock up a game.

The final WIP before bed. Phew.. Will tweak colors more probably so they stop blending in AS much (like the hair and the crown). Add some weights (save me) and HD some of the textures.

I used procedural textures in Blender, trying to emulate texture from PS1 games. @MrmoTarius instead of creating tiles I went for larger textures (Vagrant Story was my reference for stone floors), but I want to experiment with tiling too. CRT emulation adds a ton of flavor.

However the scars aren't permanent, and in fact they shouldn't even last more than an instant. Digimon should be able to renew their textures and "heal" from the damage instantly. The scars are only there because they look cool.

For the scars and other "damage" that Digimon suffer in their wireframe, represented by the change of textures, that appearing is just "rule of cool" and a way of us understanding what happened.
