well a general rule you can pretty much try is like when going from light to dark you have to like adjust the hue depending if its a wamer or cooler environment

skin color, as well as everything else is heavily influenced by the environment and lighting. if everything is dafk, the skin NEEDS to be dark too, otherwise it would look like it doesn't belong there. same is true if everything is bright. (not my art, but a good example)
