Fairies by Charles Altamont Doyle (1832-93) - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's father was committed to a mental asylum in 1881. He made paintings of fairies to try to prove his sanity. He died in the asylum in 1893. (ht Stephen Ellcock)

Draugen is a huge, seaweed covered monster in Norwegian folklore, that was thought to be the ghost of a drowned fisherman. Draugen often appeared during storms, trying to drag the fishermen under water and drown them.
