I think I have the general art style down for the trashmon project. A little sketchy, some rough airbrush for shading. Just gotta figure out the background.
(In the previous images, I added airbrush shading using Krita but the rest is made in MSPaint.)
And because I can't decide if I like the airbrush shading from the Krita versions, these are the MSPaint-only versions:

@springs_end_ As for me, I use these 3 brushes to shade things. Shading 1 is normally used as the "airbrush" aka the brush I'd use to set some sort of foundation. Shading 2 would be the secondary. Then I use Blending Brush to mix both together which leads to something like the 2nd image

it was just a doodle but it looked like crap without shading so i threw some airbrush on there

@xeno_toast I definitely prefer cell shading! But i blend my colors sometimes, no airbrush tho 😔
@gravinity303 since kaneko's art style was from old photoshop airbrush, I think every art program that have airbrush could emulate it
in a nutshell, 80s animu is almost semi realistic with exaggerated features, like porcelain or ball jointed dolls, for example
while modern day anime art style looked really soft despite very stylized, it looks really flat despite being airbrushed
@xeno_toast Cell shade all day with a wee hint of airbrush here and there... (New phone gotta re save art to it...)
It probably doesn't look like it but i use airbrush a LOT can't live without it honestly
