An under-appreciated MTMTE thing is that the autobot symbol, alleged to be the face of Primus, is readable as an abstraction of Rung's face if you look closely. The twin crests, the eye seams, the chin, the long nose, it's all there. Even the eyebrows 🤫

The 38s Smokescreen sports on his doors are an homage to his G1 incarnation, who also wore them. His paint schemes throughout the series also homage the pre-Transformers color schemes of the Autobot "Datsun Trio".
