Here you can see the progress on the wrist and elbow. Will probably go over the fingers next.

I've even got as far as using the rotation of the arm bone to drive a shape key that preserves the arm's volume and blockiness as the elbow bends, but I'm still figuring out that awkward-looking halfway point.
