Recently my friend told me (about my left work) that sees a lot progress compared to my previous works.
For me it was strange! I drew like this more 20 years ago (right) and such style is very easy for me so I always tried smth new.

The color scheme was something I’ve been wanting to work with for a while.

It’s actually based on a typical central TX sunset.

I had a previous passion on wine production and this was the branding for my central TX wine persona. Local terroir, if you will. Again, old and new.

I switched to traditional etching imagery tho splattered with contemporary color treatment.

Juxtaposition is a key part of my work, often old/new.

Etching is a typical print approach - linking to my woodcuts and love of the printing process. Part design, part elbow grease.

For comparison's sake: upper left is old, upper right is new.
The head in the old was modeled after how I drew Yoshi, the head of the new is modeled off of how Rex was portrayed in the Super Mario Story Quiz books.
The legs in the new one are longer and not so stubby here.
