Here's some trivia:
The original intent was to be cool and outlandish in contrast to so-called "cute and flawless" timely trends.

But in retrospect, Sonic is still winds up looking cute, as he was only made to look "edgy" in reference to other mascot characters at the time.

I've been playing around with texture, especially on drawing rocks. You can't control everything with stark contrast and repetitive lines, so gotta leave some of the work for the colors
