Giratina is is inspired by a Japanese tale, "My Lord Bag of Rice." Seta is a giant centipede that is killed by the hero. The Centipede had eyes that glowed like fire and was so big that it's body wrapped around Mount Mikami seven times.

In a Pampangan myth, Bathala died without leaving a will and Apolaki and Mayari fought over who would rule the earth. Apolaki wanted to rule the earth alone while Mayari insisted on equal rights. (1/2)

I recently received Donato Giancola's book "Middle-earth: Journeys in Myth and Legend" and it's a delight. Donato's art makes a real effort to show human emotion in the characters, whilst his descriptions helpfully signpost his influences. Recommended.
