Vash from Trigun and Kevin from the Trails series walk the same path of having far too spiky hair for the modern era. It had to be nerfed because it was too powerful.
As expected, there's some push back on the new Trigun designs. lol
I think the reason why I'm more open to it, particularly Vash's modernised hair style, is because it feels familiar to Vash's *natural* hair as seen in his morning routine.
