I call this the "Marvel poster effect". For a second, imagine that if both posters were hand painted, yes, it would be objectively more laborious to paint every character, unique pose, and the cityscape. It would be very impressive.
Mona's design caught my eye at first glance. I liked it so much that I quickly drew her in my own style. I guess I'll have to check out her character sheet to know more about her backstory.

Ultimately, I found the game to be gorgeous and full of life
The characters, intentionally uncanny, I find to be pretty compelling upon reflection. (Amelia kino)
For the Gothic Lolita character designs that inspired many works after, I was pleased with seeing as early as 2000
Something I also found super compelling was the meta of the game within a game
The protagonist himself plays an unknown👀 character, capturing the hearts of Heroines, becoming a "VN player" himself. But could becoming too attached to someone that's not real be a bad thing? 👀🤔
Madame Verka is a character I definitely found to be pretty compelling and unnerving.
The protagonist (not naming them) I found to be super engaging with the mystery as a voiceless protag, because not even he could hear his own voice. Who is the protag? 👀
Funny enough, the title screen with the mansion on the left and the Seagulls in focus is not Umineko. Similar title screens though which I found cool
The overall art direction for backgrounds is super gorgeous (whether you like the 2000s gap moe character designs, I can't force)
