Here is a quick look at my workflow. I try to consider composition rules like golden ratio and rule of thirds as well as color values and silhouettes till the end to achieve a quality artwork.

Process for the "Tropical" background. As you can see, the general shapes and composition of each plane were changed quite a bit. That poor palm tree got chopped and replanted closer to the camera. It's ok to change your mind if something isn't working out 🙂
