Oscar Wilde was 1854. In 1891 he wrote "Salomé" a play that proved so popular it inspired numerous silent adaptations incl. Nazimova's 1922 film. Later versions featured Eartha Kitt as Salomé in 1955 & Al Pacino as Herod (2018) + Ken Russell's 1985 SALOMÉ'S LAST DANCE.
