Knuckles has the tribal patterns from the other members of the Echidna clan, but he also has a pinkish fur in reference to his chaotix sprite and yellow (socks?) like his sprite in S3 alone and the Fleetway comics
it also took some minor inspirations from 's design

I had this game idea where Sonic and Eggman are tethered together using rings Knuckles Chaotix style by a new villain, so they have to work together reluctantly to beat said villain. Sonic can’t run as fast cuz of Eggman’s weight so he has to slow down for once :O

It's cool that Mighty & Ray seemed to have been established as part of the main Classic Sonic cast. But that side of the franchise still feels somewhat lonely when it comes to characters.

Would love that they bring back the Classic Chaotix and unused characters from that era.
