Today I got the news Leiji Matsumoto, author of Interstella 5555, one of my favorite music films from my teenager days, has died. In honor of him I decided to paint Jason and Damian like the aliens of this iconic film. Well rest, Matsumoto, you were one of the best.

So we're getting closer to that year anniversary, but you driving was a vibe. Mainly you're a slightly more refined chaotic driver, and I'm all about that interstate speeding. Ily

around last year my art went through a very big shift in its level of quality and presentation, as someone who grew up studying and idolizing those traditional painters as well as industry artist i was so focused and fixated on doing art a certain way

damn, just found out Leiji Matsumoto passed away a few days ago.
while never fully in tune with his work. it has always been recognizable. and very close aesthetically to something I would have loved
I will always remember interstellar 5555 as my top pick

Leiji Matsumoto passed away on 13 February. 85 is a good run by any standard but sad nonetheless. I'm a casual manga reader/anime watcher but I've been a fan of Matsumoto's work since I was a kid. Definitely rewatching Interstella 5555 tonight
