I feel that the HC Monsters get overlooked a lot in favor of the many monsters that appeared in G - Z.

In terms of lore, their materials did give hints as to what caused them to change (Old age, taking better care of themselves, etc.).

Last night I finished watching Vanitas no Carte (The Case Study of Vanitas).

Unexpected GREATNESS!

The way it has a great lore, mystery, character writing and action here and there to spice things up is phenomenal.

I'm astounded by the comedy and the romance. Too good.
