I should’ve said that snakes have a “Special adaptation” not “special bone” as other species also have the quadrate. It forms the upper part of the jaw joint. In snakes, this bone is adapted to be a double hinge while in other vertebrates it is fused or a part of the upper skull.

45. Most cases of cauda equina result from disc protrusion. The intervertebral discs are a secondary cartilaginous joint. They have a tough outer layer and a gelatinous core. Cartilaginous end plate of each disc attaches to the bony endplate of vertebrae.

My own little take on the Skullcrawler.

I reimagined it as a gigantic amphibious invertebrate sea monster, like C-Rex from the ‘98 animated Godzilla series.

May or may not use this in a future Godzilla-related fan project...
