I don’t have a standard size tbh. I start with a default canvas and make it larger to start with, then just stretch it down as needed while sketching. That’s why most of my comic panels have different heights but the same width.

This isn’t a sales pitch (promise!) but my book uses a standardised font, with upper & lower case. Alternately you could try Bunbun & BonBon by Jess Keating, Pea, Bee & Jay by Brian Smith or Narwhal & Jelly by Ben Clanton (the last uses all caps, but it a larger font).
