I think so, a lot of Sakura stuff is horror-inspired and when I saw that Nasu quote I was like "ah yeah of course they look like this" (then summer BB)

I feel Nasu was a bit inspired on Alice, how her powers seem to come from her imagination and the fairy tale-inspired familiars

Why do I shoot w/ cloth on the floor? To get contact shadows that feel “real." The cloth is replaced by a rock or something else in photoshop. I keep the original contact shadows as one of the multiple ways I trick your eyes into believing the person is standing where they are.
