long ago I had this phase where I really wanted to learn more about my country's mythology. I can't say that went anywhere but there's an interesting character called a Devi in Georgian myths and fairy tales, kind of a horned giant, can be good or evil and I really like them so..
Emma, Countess of Mount Edgcumbe (1729-1807) was a famously plain Georgian Lady. But she was proud of the fact that she had 'no common face', as she told the painter Joshua Reynolds. Emma featured in many caricatures, including one as a toad-commanding witch.

The Cherub Harvesters by François Boucher, who died #onthisday in 1770. I find them just a little bit terrifying, to be honest. If I saw them, I wouldn’t hang around. #gloriousgeorgians

On Georgian Independence Day we celebrate Barbare Jorjadze, princess, chef, author, playwright & women's rights advocate. In 1874 she published "Georgian Cuisine and Tried Housekeeping Notes" which has recently sparked a renaissance in Georgian cuisine. https://t.co/rUO9f9R7FQ

This robe à l’anglaise (c.1770) was made from silk damask dating to the 1730s. Reusing such fabric was a common C18th practice. The gown opens at the front to reveal a matching petticoat, at this time made to be seen. IMG: https://t.co/sKSC3KuUEl @metmuseum
