Pretty much what I did was turn on the grayscale filter on my laptop, picked a random color pallet, and then drew some horses with said pallets only turning off the filter after I was done. (color versions are under)

I'm not particularly skilled in this area, but limited color pallets for me are very underrated, and paired with a proper photo reference helps immensely! I also sometimes like to use one overlay layer on top of the picture using a single color to help unify all the colors more.
