1- On some dark background draw a basic shape of fire, use some bright color, like yellow.

Once you've got your color, use the circular pattern of the eye, and make that same pattern next to the pupil. As shown:

With this color, you're gonna use the highlights as a "base" for when you draw the shading. But with this, dont make the lines as tightly packed together, and coming from the outside in (coming towards the pupil, instead of from the pupil) like so:
