yea i first research references and try to learn the muscles structure, heres SOME of them
then i sketch out the lines of the rough shape for the character im drawing while i stare at them, and then paint base color>rough shadows>darker rough shadows>highlight>even darker shadows

I managed to get back on Colton and I colored him! About freaking time too. I dig how whole 'Sasquatch, muscle-gut' look personally. My first large character without hulking abs or obvious muscles. But his fur hides it well. Gentle boy...just don't make him mad. He hurt you.
