After Yokuro and Shien(Theta) lost their abilities, Shien wanted Apollo Maruka dead so he made a deal with the Merchant to get Yokuro powers. The deal costed him his consciousness and his body eventually became a vessel for another person(Theta)

As for me, I love the lore implications of the Adventure style (Gerald basing Shadow’s design off of the Super Sonic mural since he’s the ultimate lifeform) but I also love the modern style with the quills all up. I think it gives him a really powerful silhouette.
