Speculative reconstruction of my study area in northern Australia 1.35 billion years ago. Wanted it to look like an artsy satellite image, instead it's like a bairn coloured it in. 😅

Ammonite reconstruction part 2 ~ A modern re-telling:

Following on from our previous ammonite paleoart post, this modern image demonstrates what an ammonite may have actually looked like, following further studies on their ancestral relationships.

A recent data leak has confirmed that Sonic, the iconic green hedgehog, was originally going to be blue. Below is a reconstruction of what this might’ve looked like.

Wow this paper really used dinosaur toys to estimate volume/mass and called them "scientifically accurate palaeoreconstructions".

Doing a little exercise in taking an image of Yoimiya and reconstructing the parts that were obscured in her artwork. It's only a few bits but I think it came out alright; might use in a future header. Art from Genshin's Official JP account.

So on top of the lobopodian-like sclerites, we have paired stubby things underneath these worms - just as lobopodians have walking legs attached under their sclerites. Here's a 3D reconstruction of the little stubs underneath the sclerites of Tabelliscolex:

For the unfamiliar: ceratopsid reconstructions often misplace the earholes into the laterotemporal fenestra. The correct position is the space between the quadrate and the depressor mandibulae. This diagram by is a good reference. Photo by me.

That specific style of reconstruction never seemed to be accurate at any point in time, but most closely resembles the raptors in the 80s-early 90s

A quick and very speculative themed sketch of a purported female Placerias. I've read that only half or so specimens actually have the unique fake-tusk 'horns', suggested to be sexual dimorphism, which I don't think I've ever seen reconstructed. But... (1/2)
