Unfortunately however, by widening the playfield from 256 to 320 pixels without modifying the proportions of the artwork, the Genesis version just looks flat out wrong when aspect ratio corrected for a 4:3 screen. Funnily it would've looked much better the low resolution mode!
for day 104 of trying #pixelart I got the proportions on toad wrong and then spent wayyy too long trying to just make it work instead of restarting for some reason
art progress babyyyy
the eyes are kinda off but I'm happy with the body shape and proportions, drawing from observation is the way to go rn
Oedwythe, Bennai God of the Hearth. I've never really been happy with Whitty's proportions and have now gotten it to a place that I like, so I decided to stick him up on #artfight2020 a little earlier than I intended. https://t.co/bJUS0AxQAe
@JoshuaOwen068 theres a bit of uncanniness that comes with it being really early CGI but i feel like the design itself has more of a "cute" feeling than 2000's mario in terms of facial proportions
7 year glow up but my man Randy still has the proportions of wreck-it-ralph
Finally, got Ms. Anti and their creator drawn out
Dr. Kincaid and his thought obliterating robot Ms. Anti
And yes, they are massive despite their 'proportions'
@journal_evo @JohnRHutchinson There's a lot of missing anatomy in the hips of dinosaurs: squishy hyaline cartilage, tough fibrocartilages, ligaments etc. Not to mention different bony structures. Henry shows us how these two lineages of dinos used different proportions of these tissues to get huge.
Today is going to be more proportion focusing. I'm going to try and get it good enough so I can draw Sephira on my own. Granted I know I can't do her justice like the Artists I've commissioned have. But like, being able to draw her would be amazing. I mean, look. If I could draw-
I would like to apologize to Nanahoshi Ren for this terrible art, with terrible proportions.
@shslRedditress IbisPaint w finger check:
(I’ll admit I can’t do digital very well and the proportions are wonky on my cracked phone but I gave it a shot)
Actually, funnily enough, Nakaue's current Mario is a lot more based on the GCN/Wii era proportions huh.... Smaller chin, larger hat, taller head. It's kinda swapped?
I made a She-Ra chibi! I’m pretty pleased with this style for them - they’re not something I typically make but I think this looks adorable. Their proportions are surprisingly tricky to balance.

A modern character design thing I noticed is characters have bigger heads and eyes to make them look cuter/ more baby-ish rather than proportioned bodies. I think of gen 1-3 vs gen 4-8 of Pokémon but I’ve seen it in other things too.
i feel like mario's face in 3D renders briefly dipped into some evil territory in the gamecube/wii era. but then in the HD era they brought back this cuddly warmth he had in the N64 era. it's the chubby plush proportions of his face
Its time for "Amazing Comic Book Facts!"
How does Peter Parker, the Amazing #Spiderman , breathe in that mask?
He actually has the book lungs of a spider, and "breathes" from his belly.
Strange, but true.
(He also has the proportional intestines of a spider) https://t.co/e3k04gAaz8
Working in posable models proportions for a little ff7 project... God!! I really want to do this one!!!
Time to study further
Updated his look. I've already seen some proportion issues, and of course it could use shading, but I'm happy with its current form as is. I see this as sort of a... beta design.
This is a more accurate representation because the image is recognizable when you reduce these elements. Instead of cranking out ten colors, this does the monochrome and proportions that actually exist in the shot
