sketching on a solid white canvas strains the hell out of my eyes after a while!
to help, i do my sketching in a dark not-quite-black color on a pale matching background. it's reduced my eye fatigue a lot. 👍

Lovely Ben with a pine cone and pine needle pattern background. Ben sadly passed away a few years ago so this background is a nod to his favourite time of year - when it was time to choose a new Christmas tree, as he got to explore amongst all the ready to chop trees.

I found the picture of the living version on the Boktai website being used as a background. To my knowledge, this is the only official art of the living solar tree, so I had to darken it.
