I tweaked the levels a little here and removed some of the yellowing. I couldn’t find any info online about when Caveny created this, but it’s a fun, spooky illustration and I’m glad it's perched above my chamber door. Happy Halloween!

Belgian painter Antoine Wiertz evokes true terror in the tradition of Edgar Allan Poe with his 1855 picture, "Premature Burial". There's even a sinister-looking spider crawling toward the luckless subject- creepy!

The darkly brilliant illustrations of Edmond Dulac (1882 – 1953). A prolific golden-age illustrator who had a particular affinity with the writings of Edgar Allan Poe. Strangely, he also "designed banknotes during World War II and postage stamps"!
