That's what I don't like about sevral modern cartoons, they make all characters soft. I guess that's just personal preference, that I like the older cartoons that had a lot of hard edges, but I think a healthy balance of both, depending on character would be ideal.

i know that a lot of images were often painted over to get a certain “ideal look” and i can’t really find the exact terminology used for this technique but ive seen it called “1950s photoshop” and it was HEAVILY used in pinup photography:

I found this pic from YEARS ago like 2015-2016? and I'm goddamn upset I cropped it instead of fullscreen SS..the face lightning doesn't make sense but the coloring style is sort of the closest I've ever reached to my ideal coloring style...then I lost the brush settings.....TT
