1928（昭和3）年現在の大阪府豊中市生まれ、1950（昭和25）年漫画雑誌に登場「鉄腕アトム」「ジャングル大帝」「リボンの騎士」等ヒット作を次々と手がけた。
1989（平成元年）年60歳で死去。
漫画本専門の古書店「まんだらけ」が「漫画の日」を制定
