In retrospective, it feels kind of unreal how prior to Spencer's (mostly) great run, there were over ten years of Spider-Man stories, writers and higher ups throwing lore, established rules and characterization out the window to tell stories that go against this great character.

This makes me super happy. I love the Klump/Krusha/Rool trio, even though I haven't seen the cartoon in ages and mostly never accepted it as being in the same canon as the games, the closeness of those three and their characterization is something that stuck with me for sure!

Batman: Li'l Gotham by Derek Fridolfs - The Bruce & Selina characterizations and interactions, are perfect. Fridolfs provides a great example, of what their status quo should look like in the comics. Easily one of the greatest stories ever published.

But Slade's overall characterization just feels-- so damn off in this issue. Like really off. Maybe it's too much reading into Priest's run, but damn it's making me miss Priest's take more on this. Slade just feels less calculating in Annual and more cartoony.

It seems to be basic marketing that we are driven by what is "All-New" and "All-Different". In comic books, we get routine reboots and recharacterizations, but often short-lived as they cease being new and the IP has value that requires stability.
