Animation has even fewer women directing features than the rest of the industry. Here are 4 recent films by women that deserve more attention:
-THE BREADWINNER (Nora Twomey)
-A SILENT VOICE (Naoko Yamada)
-ROCKS IN MY POCKETS (Signe Baumane)
-WINDOW HORSES (Ann Marie Fleming)
originally, the idea for this was to stress the loneliness and isolation surrounding the character but the trees made the values too muddy and samey-samey as well as just being primarily dead space. viewer's eye gets lost because there's nothing directing the eye anywhere
(2/9) Greta Gerwig! My fav & most meaningful film I’ve seen in 2020 is Little Women. Her masterful retelling made it even more relevant. Greta’s brilliant & equal in skill/talent to her male peers. can’t wait to see girls step into directing roles bc of women directors like her✨

Are you a #Ghibli completionist?
CASTLE IN THE SKY was the first Studio Ghibli film released, with Hayao Miyazaki directing.
#CastleInTheSky and other #StudioGhibli films now available to own on all major digital platforms.

'Celestial Sentinels'. Pointing upward, cypresses reminiscent of Israel, stand stalwart in the landscape. Directing our vision to the sky above with its continual allure and mystery.
Did someone say range? 👀
This is my creative range. Concept creation, styling, directing, photographing, editing & producing all of my own photography and art. ✨

We crossed 2 million views! 🤘🏼Here's a celebration piece by @jtoxica who did all the fabulous concept art for the clip.
And a huge thank you to everyone visualizing these concepts and @StobeHarju for directing!
I wanted to give some appreciation for Chris Sanders. One of my favorite directors working in animation, he's started off as a storyboard artist at Disney working on films like Beauty and the Beast before directing Lilo and Stitch, How to Train Your Dragon and The Croods.
Just checked out the incredible new short OUTPOST from @watchdust The visual scope of this one is just epic and the acting, directing, and writing is solid all around. Great job @justingiddings and @RyanWelsh25! @OutpostTheFilm #Outpost #ShortFilm #FanArt
Reminder that by containing/redirecting the bomb, Wanda saved all those people around the market, not just Steve. Not to mention the explosion would’ve made the entire building collapse since the bomb went off on the building’s foundation. There could’ve been way more casualties.

Weathering With You — RADWIMPS
RADWIMPS did it again. They've built off the groundwork laid in Your Name's Soundtrack, advancing the themes, even improving in areas. Their music fits Makoto Shinkai's directing style so well that it only made sense to go in this direction.
In the summer, I started at Netflix directing on Centaurworld! In addition to being super talented artists & storytellers, this crew is also some of the funniest and kindest people I know. The show is WILD in the best way and I'm truly so honored to be a part of it.
I finished directing on She-Ra early last year! Afterwards, I took some time off work. I hiked a bunch, pet cats, and drank a lot of wine on mountaintops.
thinking about certain animation directors not doing a good job directing
I thought I'd give a shoutout to Pixar artist Ralph Eggleston. Along with directing the Oscar-winning short For the Birds, he's done the production design on a lot of Pixar's films mostly doing work using oil pastels. His work is simply superb and reminds me of impressionist art.
