Garth Williams’ (1912-1996) illustrated worlds are so comforting. He saw the horrors of WWII, & valued life & love afterward. He did Charlotte’s Web, Stuart Little, & countless others. But I also love his smaller books. Here’s his art for your relaxing Sunday. 💕

Good night, dear magical Twitter folk. Tonight I will leave you with this illustration by Garth Williams from Stuart Little.
On Friday, 21 February 1845 at 4pm, Charles #Dickens and other brave-or foolish-adventurers (Mr. Le Gros, Catherine, Georgina Hogarth, Louis Roche), set out on an adventure.
They planned to climb Italy's famous Mt. Vesuvius on the Gulf of Naples to gaze into its flaming crater🌋
Garth Williams believed that books "given, or read, to children can have a profound influence!' With that in mind, he used his illustrations to try to "awaken something of importance: responsibility, respect for others, interest in the world at large!'"
