My flats are also harsh saturated colors because I don’t know how not to think in local color. What I end up doing is using a difference layer on top that ends up getting the colors on more common shades. Also I paint textures into my flats but that’s because I like to suffer

Final version of this Emma Leaven drawing with the colouring flats added. Drawn with an Apple iPencil on an iPad Pro and using the fabulous @ComicDrawapp (if you draw comics this particular app is a must! It’s a delight to use, very intuitive.)
