While I personally prefer this scene more in manga. The flashbacks in the anime say more than what a 1000 words cant. Gintoki is having a ptsd episode. Beaten by Utsuro again like when he was a child, those beloved memories of his teacher are tarnished. He lost his will to go on.

Fake transparent main character feels like a weird mix of Allen (dgm) and standard Shonen Boy TM probably tragic backstory but always smiling. Also dumb

The big armor.. Thing? Boy?? Is probably a big thing later on but for now it feels more like a comic relief
