A very recent game, but an incredible one nonetheless, this is a top-tier Metroidvania with incredible, fresh gameplay and gorgeous pixelart

Take a look at, say, SRB2. They had to hand design a lot of environments and environmental assets, pick great color schemes that account for both looking nice as well as being clear enough for gameplay purposes.

It's visually appealing, fun to look at, and fun to play.
