March 31, 1932: The ballet "Caballos de vapor" by Mexican composer Carlos Chávez was given its world premiere at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, billed as "H.P." for 'horse power', conducted by Leopold Stokowski. The sets & costumes were by the Mexican artist Diego Rivera.
