The second inspiration for this design is Goya's depiction of the Coco! Goya is probably my favorite artist ever, and I love to pay homage to his work in small ways.
YOU'RE TOO LATE, RÄT! I ALREADY DEPICTED 𝘠𝘖𝘜 AS A SOYJAK AND 𝘔𝘌 AS A CHAD!
I find Otto Dix's depiction of war in "Der Krieg" astounding. While in classical paintings, war often depicted as bravery and glory, during the 20th century (especially in Dix's art) the depiction of war shifts from glory and heroism to tragedy, terror and disaster.
Moving well beyond its skeevy initial premise, 'I Can't Believe I Slept With You' provides authentic depictions of two queer experiences
It would be the perfect subtle and sensual Yuri romance - were it not for one glaring omission

Here's a better image of the M. Belomlinskij art depicting a battle of Darves vs. Warg Riders from the 1976 Soviet edition of The Hobbit.
In this painting I have pictured Themis, the Greek goddess of justice and law.
Frequently this goddess is depicted with a blindfold, but I have not done that because I find that too pessimistic.

Here’s a poster of Den by Richard Corben that Warren used to advertise as a depiction of our hero as “the savage paragon of the carnal combat” or some such, along with the cover of the forthcoming Den reprint/restoration. The difference between the two images is quite remarkable.
As for the background, it's based on Kalos' Route 7, which is inspired by this screencap from the Kalos episode for Evolutions.
Except that my background is depicted in something of a pastel palette, since it takes place in the morning.
What's that? You'll have to speak up. This body tends to thump and creak no matter how little I flex. You'll have to climb up all these throbbing veins for me to hear you. The beautiful and talented @LathyrusGrotto knows how to depict a godly gemwaf, and he's getting first dibs.

The Booth of San Bernardo (1961) by Baldomero Romero Ressendi (1922–1977).
Ressendi was A classically trained Spanish painter inspired by Goya. His art was often seen as 'scandalous' for its expressionism and depiction of dark subject matter.
