So in case this helps other Vtubers/artists, I will share some of my drafts and a cool trick I learned from . When making a character use chibis as they are simpler, make them monochrome to play with values and focus on a recognisable silhouette

There are formulas that can help you, based on something called color harmony.

Pick a point on the circle and use your knowledge of saturation and brightness to create variations in hue.
