There's a bit of debate on this! The Pink Amazon River Dolphin are typically male dolphins who become more pink as they age. This is assumed to be scar tissue, as they tend to fight more as they grow. It's also assumed their skin becomes more translucent as they age.

"Pokemon" as creatures are more universally animalistic for the most part, reaching a broader audience, whereas "Yo-kai", on the other hand, tend to have more traditional eastern Asian characteristics, which can be difficult to localize smoothly.
