While I'm not a fan of how he depicts Jotaro sometimes (seriously, he looks 50 in the 2000 OVA), when his art hits, Junichi is my favourite official artist for Jojo besides Araki. His sketch art and his work on the 1993 OVA is stunning.

Subaru Sumeragi from manga > OVA > X/1999 movie > 2021 TV series

Though I love his manga version the best, I always love the outfits, the 2021 version isn't bad. Definitely looks updated with the time era. I will hope there is some more callbacks to the old outfits.

The main problem of 2d background animation is that it precludes detailed backgrounds from the scene, as redrawing it potentially 100s of times from different angles is generally too laborious. Yasuomi Umetsu's non solution from the second Devilman OVA was very nice though.

Looking into V Gundam... i discovered something i would never believe, Toshiyuki Tsuru (Naruto) & Kazuya Tsurumaki (FLCL) working on the same OVA : Youseiki Suikoden (1993)

He is not the director but he did everything from chara design to board to unit director, it's a Tsuru gem
