I think the bigger question is "Why do I trace?"

Well, couple of reasons.

One, its faster than hand-drawing everything. Sure, I might need to trace 3 or 4 separate things and then recombine them, like I did for the warcroc piece attached, but its still less time-consuming.

Oh it's smaugust.
Gotta draw some dragons! >8)
...but for now, catch one of my water dragon species! They basically can hide their legs so they can swim faster (kinda like Ripjaws from Ben 10 but shhh)

I've been trying to 1. Find a solid style and 2. Simplify the coloring process so I can get faster at doing illustrations. 🤔
I'm really happy with how this one turned out! ☺️

Did a quick test for another approach to flats in Clip Studio (that didn't turn out to be any faster than what I was already doing) so here's Gray-with-a-different-haircut.

Mother of all difficulty spikes... I beat a chapter boss in bug fables faster than it takes to set up a sneeze yet a generic enemy right at the next chapter gave me a game over

Another silly painting 🖼 This was my first oil. I try to get it dry faster for a deadline and put it next to the fireplace. Soon the painting bubble up like a well roasted BBQ marshmallow and it stinks 😝 I end up redo the painting in watercolor for that particular show 🤪
