I paint my shadows very lightly, I generally lower the opacity of the layer to have something softer. Once you are done, add a new layer on top the other one. Same settings except for the opacity. Draw more dark shadows to add depth. I usually do this thrice.

Also here’s a close-up of Don’s prosthetic leg! I did add a couple of extra lights from the original but otherwise they’re the exact same! I can’t draw mech for the life of me but I enjoy how it turned out :)
