The dorsal plates on this sturgeon are more pointed, indicating a younger fish. In Japanese sturgeon are called "chouzame," or "butterfly shark." The patterns of scales supposedly look like a butterfly. Although sturgeon are not sharks, they have similar features.

a class i poured a lot of energy into spring semester was surface design. i made so many patterns i'm incredibly proud of, and i designed native seed packets (that are still in progress) and prints and patterns inspired by native plants for my final project.
