It's the hair positioning I think.

The artist has reused the faces from the time skip portraits for all of these new designs and drawn on new hair and clothes. Felix's hairline seems to be at a slightly weird position akin to the rest of his head.

Here‘s how I draw:

Left—first sketch. I worry mostly about composition and pose.

Right—with the pose done, I worry about Details and the expression, giving the character more personality and objects more finer forms.
