The color scheme of the weapons and the inner clothes are very similar to traditional Chinese color schemes, found in clothing, paintings, frescos, and building paints.
The patterns also give a hint of the flower patterns in Tang dynasty, again along the silk road.

The dark robe reminds me of the Wind Waker design. There it has a strong resemblance to the Chinese emperor coronation clothing, giving a strong imperial aura, very fitting indeed.
