If my theory above stands- then I think the Gen 8 precursors to Gen 9 are Dracozolt & Runerigus (or maybe Flapple)-this pattern normally doesn’t include the typing of the precursor mons though,so Dracozolt may not apply there but instead apply for kinda looking like a cockatrice! https://t.co/P4H57qvMfc

Pokemon Red 2 update! These two mons are special because they are neither regional or weather-based forms. Seaqueen is something that should have existed but never was, for who knows why. Then we have Cubone, who didn't lose their parent and/or were bred in captivity. ✨

Matching the rest of the 'mons on the Professor's Sonia palette, keeping the same reference of Shadow Pokemon from XD and Go.
A bit of a personal anecdote: this set was also inspired by Super Smash Bros Brawl giving some of its cast a de-facto "dark" palette.
