Some of the most impactful parts of the story, I think, are the refugees' interviews. To hear not only their experiences, but their own hopes for their lives and futures. I remember being struck by Shamsun's story about the time she arrived at the Aceh shores, how vivid it felt.

It was really important for us (and UNHCR also told us this beforehand) to depict the strength and resilience of these refugees, even in dangerous and helpless situations. We want to get people to care and help, but not exactly in a "tugging heartstrings" way.

Tamasin (on the left) is my L.10 Human Life Cleric. I've been playing her for 2+ years & she's my anxious, awkward squish-baby. Game is on Covid-hold, so in the meantime I'm playing Moth, a half-elf, feywild refugee, L.4 Dreams Druid with one level of Warlock. (The art is by me)
