"Working in glass is another form of painting for me, because I am using pieces of colored glass as I would brushstrokes of paint. Glass satisfies my need for sculptural expression" - Annette Lerner

Made a few tiny paintings for !
I've always liked the texture of brushstrokes on canvas.

Oil on wood, acrylic on glass, gouache, oil on canvas. I feel like I am just now making my range of brushstrokes noticeable. There is a degree of how loose or how tight I paint. But perhaps that’s all in my head and I wanted to be included. 🥺

Biggest consistency between my art styles is my painterly inspirations. I love seeing brushstrokes!!

with some faces! ✨
I love painting and brushstrokes, and I also love the simplicity of lines and flat colors.
Experimenting is what I love the most about art!

Senja Brendon's works embody the immensity and elemental qualities of the ocean in all its raw and untamable beauty. On Brendon later carer, her love of Turner’s loose brushstrokes and dramatic skies became evident.

Trying to let brushstrokes speak for themselves more with more wild brushes and a loose leash feels like trying to find the order in the chaos. I can't say I dislike where it's heading though.

(This also is a cheeky WIP crop of a deadline piece~)

Been painting lots, but rather than wait to share more polished WIP with you, I wanted to share the "unglamorous" side of making art. Sometimes you have nothing but raw silhouettes, scraggly skeletons of trees, or a mess of brushstrokes. But it's ok! It's part of creating. 🎨🖌️

Dean Cornwell:

I LOVE this! The oils are juicy, the mark-making is wickedly confident & the color is GORGEOUS! I wanted to touch this painting, it’s so tactile to look at (🤫 no I didn’t touch it bc I’m good but still…those brushstrokes are genius)

my new style of coloring isn't really working out for pieces with backgrounds (especially for illustrations with a shallow depth of field - field blurs dont really work well with brush strokes aaaa)

i guess I'll reserve the brushstroke-heavy style for portraits for now 😂
