According to Shōko Nakagawa's auto-biography, the Spiky-Eared Pichu was meant to be named "White Pichu" (ホワイトピチュー) instead. It was renamed to ギザみみピチュー (Gizamimi Pichu) (the Japanese name). Shōko is the Pichu's Japanese VA as well as a popular singer in Japan.
